CHOPSAVER
Here's a product that I have had the opportunity to try out recently.......
Some of you may have seen or tried the product before - here's what I thought:
Firstly I have never really had any issue in particular with chapping etc - but I do tend to play a little moist and lick my lips a little.
I can also totally relate to the concept of protecting the lips as I have had the unpleasant experience of once having my top lip ripped into two pieces in a sporting accident. It took a while for the surface to heal.
Given that the lips are also the main contact point between me and a piece of metal I shove into my face each day I thought anything is worth giving a go if it will just keep the lips moist and maintain them.
The product is the brainchild of a Mr Dan Gosling - a professional trumpet player in the USA.
Read the full story here about how it was created etc here: CHOPSAVER STORY
This product appealed to me right off the bat as it's almost a kiwi story of pure ingenuity and grind.
The result is of course this lovely green tube and it's 100% organic contents with a catchy name that only the woodwind cats would get.
Now - I just want to take a second to mention the ingredients here as that's another thing that drew me to the product (My wife runs a cosmetic department with literally every major cosmetics brand under the one roof - so I am no stranger to the product samples etc she has lying round the house).
Let me just say.......The natural ingredients in Chopsaver are some of the same ingredients that you will find in some of the major cosmetic brands that are 3-6X the price for a similar product!!
How cool is that?
Now I've been using Chopsaver for about 2 weeks now and I am pleasantly surprised - the product does about everything it says it will - it moisturises, it repairs, it maintains and it can be used pretty much anytime of the day - even during playing.
(Although personally I would recommend an application last thing at night before you go to bed - and maybe first thing in the morning)
Oh, and it smells pretty good too.........Reminds me of a lemon or lime sorbet.
Now you don't have to take my word for how good the product as already there are some big name players using the product and singing it's praises already. CHOPSAVER USERS
All in all I think it's a great product and I think if you suffer from chapped lips or dryness I really think it's worth a go.
(Please check all ingredients first before using of course - incase of allergies etc.)
PROS:
Reasonable Price
Organic
Healing in a tube
Not too Greasey
CONS:
Like any chapstick sometimes it's a little hard to wind back in the tube and heat will melt it.
Tube could have been a little more innovative - but I'm just being picky here.
HOW MUCH WOULD I EXPECT TO PAY?
Well, the product retails for $4.95 in the USA - so given shipping costs and the exchange rate you can be expecting to pay around NZ $8 to $9 a tube for this product.
The goods news for anyone interested in acquiring some is that you will be able get it right here off my website!
I thought it was such a nice product that I contacted Dan and asked him if I could be the official Chop Saver Agent here in NZ - and he said why not?
More to come on this....
OVERALL RATING:
A nice product with a great story and a bright future.
On the verge of greatness!
(If the packaging was just a little better I would give
have given this product my Greatness!! Rating)
